                            Data Center Locations

The below map shows the data center locations where the selected SAP cloud services are currently operated.

This world map displays?data centers that currently operate SAP cloud services. Please note that SAP’s cloud portfolio will undergo incremental integration into the?data center map. The SAP cloud services may?also be enabled for deployment in other data centers than the displayed data?centers. For some SAP cloud services, a customer can select the data center?during the implementation of the service. SAP deploys secondary data centers?(not listed here) in the region of the primary data center for backup and?disaster recovery purposes. SAP may open additional data centers, but SAP does?not change a customer’s selected data center to a data center in an alternate?region unless the customer requests SAP to migrate its instance to another?region. For more information,?please contact your SAP representative.

How we operate our data centers

In SAP data centers, we take measures that are based on industry and technology standards.

Take a virtual 360° tour of an SAP data center

Explore the inside of?an SAP?data center?to?learn about its infrastructure, emergency procedures, and?data security?measurements – and try 3D glasses for an even better view. Note, this video?works best with android devices or a desktop.?

                            Resource Center

Look inside our data centers to see what they contain and how they are designed.

                            Power Supply

The?data?center is connected to two separate grid sectors operated by the?local?utility company. If one sector fails, the second one continues to?supply power.?The data center also houses 13 diesel generators in a?separate building. Together, they produce a total of 29 megawatts.

                            Cooling

Electric components and processors generate heat when operated. If it is not dissipated, the processor‘s efficiency may decrease to the point that the component could fail. Therefore, cooling a data center is essential.

                            Controlled Access

Data centers are the backbone and core of the cloud business. In our SAP data centers we take measures that are based on industry and technology standards to protect data virtually and physically against data breaches, fires, terror attacks, and other threats.

                            Hardware

The virtual and physical servers, SAP HANA databases, storage units, and networks access a pool of physical hardware. If individual components fail, the load can be reallocated to other components without impairing system stability. If hardware fails due to a fire, data can be recovered from the backup system.

                            Fire Protection

The data center is subdivided into many fire compartments. Thousands of fire detectors and aspirating smoke detectors (ASD) monitor the rooms and pick up on specific gases that stem from overheating electronic components to set off a preliminary alarm and alert the fire department. Should a fire break out, the affected room is flooded with extinguishing gas and the fire is smothered.

                            Building

The data center consists of 100,000 metric tons of reinforced concrete and rests on 480 concrete pillars – each extending 16 meters into the ground. The exterior walls are 30 centimeters thick and made of reinforced concrete. The server rooms are further surrounded by three concrete walls. This design provides effective protection against storms and even a small airplane crash.

                            Data privacy

Data falls under the jurisdiction selected by our customers and is not forwarded to third parties. Data protection is also maintained during required maintanance operations. SAP has implemented a wide range of measures to protect data controlled by us and our customers from unauthorized access and processing, accidental loss, or destruction.

                            Back up

Backups are performed in the form of disk-to-disk copies, which enables rapid data creation and recovery. Besides completing full backups on a daily basis, interim versions are created several times a day and archived, like all backups, at a second location for security purposes.

                            Access to data

An intrusion detection system monitors incoming data and identifies suspicious activities, while firewalls made by different manufacturers protect data. Backup files and data are exchanged with customers in an encrypted format or transmitted through secure fiber-optic cables.

                            Zero emissions

Energy efficiency and procurement of green electricity enabled SAP to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in the data centers globally.

                            Secure operations

Protecting our data centers is of high importance at SAP. At regular intervals, both outside organizations and SAP check whether the technology and infrastructure are operating smoothly.

                            Certified security

SAP regularly undergoes internal and external audits and reviews of its policies and controls, including data security and data protection regulations worldwide.

                            Optimized value

Improved hardware use, simplified interfaces, and uninterrupted operations help data centers run efficiently. Depending on the cloud solution, technologies such as virtualization, multi-tenancy, and adaptive computing play a critical role in providing high-quality cloud services.

                            Data Center FAQ's

                            Frequently Asked Questions

Where are SAP data centers located?

We store your data in one of our many SAP data centers. See map above.

What is in a data center?

In addition, the center has equipment associated with supplying power, controlling temperature, and suppressing fires. An indicator of the security level is provided by the tier/rating as defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in its stan-dard ANSI/TIA-942. Requirements of tier/rating 4, the highest, were the guiding principles in the design of the SAP data center.

How does SAP secure its data centers?

Whether fire, data breach, or hardware defect, our data centers are protected against many hazards. At regular intervals, SAP’s data center?technology and infrastructure are tested and certified.
